Background
Financial sector transformation in Indonesia is characterized by the strengthening of Islamic finance-based services and the accelerating integration of the digital financial asset ecosystem into the broader financial system. Within the context of financial market deepening, Islamic banking plays a strategic role in expanding financial inclusion, particularly for segments of society that remain underserved by formal financial services. However, its penetration remains relatively limited, reflecting structural barriers such as infrastructure constraints, digital readiness, human resource capacity, as well as issues related to financial literacy and public perception.
In parallel, the digital financial asset industry, including crypto assets, has recorded a significant increase in public participation, driven by growing user adoption and transaction activity. Amid this dynamic, risk complexity has also intensified, encompassing high price volatility, operational and technological risks, cybersecurity threats, and potential misuse for illicit activities. These conditions place Digital Financial Asset Traders (PAKD) under increasingly complex risk exposure, highlighting the need to strengthen governance frameworks and develop more adaptive and comprehensive risk mitigation measures. These two agendas form an integral part of Indonesia’s financial market deepening initiative, which underpins the OJK Institute Idea Talks Volume 11 Year 2026.
Objective
OJK Institute Idea Talks Volume 11 Year 2026 aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the role of Islamic banking in supporting financial market deepening in Indonesia, as well as the importance of strengthening regulatory frameworks and risk mitigation for Digital Financial Asset Traders (PAKD) amid the rapid development of the digital financial ecosystem. Through this forum, stakeholders are expected to gain deeper insights into the challenges and opportunities in developing a financial sector that is inclusive, sustainable, and integrity-based.
