Facing Cyber Attacks, BSSN Prepares Thousands of Competent Human Resources Through These Efforts

Badan Siber dan Sandi Negara (BSSN) is committed to addressing the various cyber threats and attacks that continue to evolve today. To support this, BSSN has prepared thousands of competent human resources (HR) in the field of cybersecurity.
The Head of BSSN, Hinsa Siburian, stated that developing HR competencies in cybersecurity and cryptography is one of the strategic priorities designed to strengthen overall digital resilience.
"Developing competent human resources aims to create a resilient and collaborative cybersecurity ecosystem," Hinsa said to reporters in Jakarta on Thursday (January 2, 2024).
Not only focusing on internal HR capacity building, but Hinsa also mentioned that BSSN is working on enhancing external competencies, encompassing ministries, agencies, local governments, and other institutions. This effort is evident from the internal and external personnel capacity development programs, which have produced 814 graduates between 2021 and 2024.
"In terms of improving the competencies of HR managing electronic-based government system (SPBE) security, 637 graduates were produced between 2021 and 2024. Meanwhile, the 'Born to Defend' training program for HR managing cybersecurity in the Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) sector has resulted in 1,002 graduates in 2022 and 2024," he explained.
Furthermore, Hinsa stated that technical and functional training programs have produced 1,694 graduates since 2021.
"For BSSN employees specifically, technical and functional training in the fields of cybersecurity and cryptography has resulted in 2,738 graduates between 2019 and 2024," he revealed.
Hinsa emphasized that the development of competent HR is inseparable from innovations in learning media, such as the cybersecurity online simulation platform, learning management system, and smart city simulator.
In addition, BSSN has initiated the establishment of a Professional Certification Institution (LSP) as a crucial strategic step in improving HR quality.
"This institution reflects BSSN's responsibility as the governing body in the field of cybersecurity and cryptography, aiming to produce competent, professional, and competitive human resources," he concluded. (*)
